Maybe you all know this, but I didn't and it took a while for me to figure out. Do not remove the battery until the power light goes off.
I would like turn the camera off and then remove the battery and I guess I was getting quicker at this because all of a sudden I was having timecode breaks.
I figured it out when using a new tape and I accidentally pulled the battery off before powering down. When the timecode screwed up, the light when on in my head. I couldn't find it in the manual but it's the only explanation I can come up with. So far, no more broken timecodes since I'm a little more patient.
