Removing a UV Protector

Hello All,

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I bought a used DVX100 and it has a UV Protector on it. I've never put on or taken off a lens or any other adapter on a DVX100. I'm trying to take off the UV Protector but can't get it off! I've removed the lens hood, but when I try to twist the UV Protector it doesn't want to budge, I'm concerned that if I try to force it that I will do damage to the camera itself. I've looked in my DVX100 manual as well as Barry's book and have searched online, but I can't find a step by step guide anywhere that tells me how to take off this UV Protector!

Can anyone help?

Try this, get a rubber band and wrap it around the UV filter (might have to double it) and TWIST!

Let me know, usually saves my butt.

A rubber band does work well.

Or, take the bottom of a mouse pad that has sticky foam under it, press it against the filter and twist.

All right, so what you're saying is that it should twist off and I should just put some more muscle behind it! Thanks guys

I used to have a VX2000 before my DVX and it came with a step ring on it and it was totally stuck so I used pliers on the edge of the ring and got it to move. If the other methods fail, you might want to just use a small flathead screw driver or a lens tool to remove the glass from the filter and then use pliers. Just make sure you only move the lens.
