Hi,
I work with ex1 and Final Cut. In my workflow, I import the clips with the EX TRANSFER aplication, to change them to quicktime clips. I don,t import all the clips, but I have lot of Gbs of duplicated clips, the originals and the quicktime clips.

It,s a good idea to import all the clips and then remove the originals?
What´s the correct workflow? (security, backups etc)
Thanks

Keep a copy of the original BVAP folders on anarchieve HD.
Also keep a copy of each BVAP on an optical DVD, kept in a separate place (Vault)
Trash them if your client dosen't mind footing the bill for a reshoot.

thanks... good sense of humor
My question is:
It´s necessary to keep the BPAV clips if you have all the clips in quicktime?
Thanks

The BPAV files allow you to re-create the MOV files, but how do you reproduce the BPAV folder from the MOV? As fas as I am aware you can't.

Therefore if you only keep the MOV files, your options are much more limited in the future. While MOV might play well in FCP, outside of that they are poorly supported. If there is ever any chance that someone on a PC as some stage many need to work on the files, you are going to want the BPAV format.

Clip Browser just introduced some new export options, including the XDCAM IMX format. THe quality is very good (a bit better than DVCPRO 50). If you only have MOVs and you like the idea of going back and exporting in some new format offered (IMX was just an example), bad luck, its all over...
