Removal of NOISE and MACRO BLOCKS from HVX and DVX footage solved!!!!!!!

I use neat video noise reduction plugin a few months already... amazing stuff! cleans video suuuuuperbly, you can see my video also here:
www.digitalvideo.lt/candlelight.mov ~80 mb, please use save file as...

it was shot with hpx500 only with candle lights and then cleaned up with neat video :)

it's not really expensive :) 99$ so... but it really does amazing stuff if you know how to use it properly..

i just got this email from the neat video guys:
--------
The first runs of a new plug-in in a Mac-based plug-in host have
already happened in our labs so I think we will be able to
complete the necessary development and testing soon enough. :-)
I will let you know when the first versions become available.
--------

not much, but its something!

So im gonna go ahead and assume that it will be worth it for me to continue to wait for the fcp plugin rather than just exporting as tiffs and using neat image. I mean i have been waiting for about a year so if it actually is still in progress then I will wait.

I don't care for the banding on the wall in the de-noised version. I prefer the noise side, to be perfectly honest.

As long as the areas you want to emphasize are satisfactorily lit, I don't think noise necessarily should be seen as a bad thing. Analog noise in film is even quite beautiful, I think[*], and video code designers maybe should aspire more to making digital noise more pleasing to the eye than in trying to disguise it with tricks that make the video look plastic-y and unreal.

* There's a film called Pneuma that revels entirely in the gorgeousness of 16mm film grain. Check it out, it's phenomenally great!

Well, mpalmer, I would agree to a certain point. I do sometimes like the look of the noise that comes out of the DVX but whenever I uprez, the noise ends up looking terrible because, obviously it is uprezed as well. I do agree about some uses of noise removal looking "plastic-y and unreal" but that seems to only be when using it to an extreme. If only using it to lessen the noticeability of the noise, then I think it looks much better than with the original noise. But, to each his own.

I guess no one would generally run their footage through NeatVideo, but for fixing certain scenes, or maybe for a clean and stylished look on some projects this would be really helpfull.
Ok, HVX event shooters will use it more often I guess:beer:

any hvx shooting in low light, i would want to run footage through this application.

I'm curious if anyone has used either the BorisFX or GenArts Sapphire anti-noise/degrain filters and compared them to Neat. We just salvaged an otherwise nearly unusuable outdoor scene that was shot with the HVX-200 and was incredibly grainy using the Sapphire plug-in, but I'm curious if Neat would be better.

So what's the deal??!?!?!?! I emailed them like four months ago and they said the final cut plugin would be available in about a month. Whats going on?
