Remote (Wireless) Monitoring of the A7s

Hello! So I've figured out how to enable wifi on the Sony A7s, and it looks great on my cell phone as a little reference monitor. But my question is, do you have to be connected to a wifi network to make this all work? What if I'm in an area with no wifi? My phone does have a mobile hotspot, but everytime I launch the PlayMemories Mobile app it says you have to connect to wifi. Any one about this? Thanks!

Hi, the camera is its own wifi hotspot. So you can connect your phone to the camera even without having any internet connection around. This works basically the same as with the Hero GoPro camera's. But when your camera is in wifi mode you don't have an actual internet connection. So when you want to upload pictures from the a7S without internet (wifi) near you, you have to send the images to your phone first and then use internet on your phone to upload it.

Hey fellas - I was able to connect the camera and use the app but it looks like the camera enters an AUTO mode when the app is in use. So, you can't shoot video in SLog2 while using the app, correct?

To do this with a professional wireless transmitter, you probably want someting like the Teradek Bolt. It can broadcast the output of your HDMI port to a receiver.
