GH4 remote triggering gh4 electronic shutter?

Remote triggering with gh4 doesn't work with electronic shutter on......does anyone know why and how to get it working?
I use a cactus v4 remote trigger set.

Thanks

I take it there's a valid reason why the wifi control isn't suited for your purposes? Because the electronic shutter works with remote trigger via that method.

I use the Panasonic Image App. They have it for Android and iPhone. It has many more features other than remote triggering. I don't know if you have a smartphone, but thats the route I would take if you do.

I imagine that`s the better solution but I have to watch my pennies and so spend money on things like the GH4 instead of contracts with telephone companies. I have an old pay-as-you-go Nokia phone. Hence my question.

Sure this is nice. I use it with my Note 3 all the time, but it's not really useful for the shooter. You can't hold your phone in one hand and shoot with the other. What the OP wants is a simple start stop sollution so he can press it him self, not his assistant.

Thanks for the replies.

What the problem is i want to freeze action without using ultra fast strobes ( photography) I was hoping that with the electronic shutter i could use a shutter speed higher than the maximim sync speed of the camera. Hoping that is, while it isn't something i suspect would be logical but then again i still don't know what the difference is between e-shutter and mechanical shutter exactly.
I know i could try some triggers which could accommodate some higher shutterspeed than specified as the maximim sync-speed, yet i was hoping to accomplish that with regular remote triggers. Some have mentioned that e-shutter has no maximim sync speed and yet others say it is max 1/25 or in that range which would be rediculously low.

Oh, that. You should specify you're trying to trigger remote flashes.

That's not going to work. This is a CMOS camera, not a CCD camera, so the image is read line-by-line. Basically you are not going to get 1/500 flash sync speeds like that on the D70.

You can still freeze action if you make sure the flashes are the sole light source. What're you trying to shoot?

Both the GH4, and the G6 (which I have), have worse rolling shutter when in electronic shutter mode. And the G6 disables it's built-in flash. So the 1/25h is likely correct.

yslee, you could get higher shutterspeed way above the max sync speed of the camera, but you will have to use some triggersystem like yongnuo 622/ phottix odin or some others like a version of pocket wizard.

I have a 5d mark iii and am sure i couldnt get more tahn 1/1000 or 1/1600 . i know some cameras like 7d could go way higher.
Electronic shutter might get me higher if hardwired to flash...i'll have to try just heard about someone doing this with nikon d4s. I want to shoot splashes of water etc

We've used the app on the shoots where I'm manning camera and someone else is using the iPhone app to stop and start the camera. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm fairly sure it can do what you just described.
