Remote LANC control.....what are you using?

Did you ever purchase a remote box? If so what did you end up getting and why? Thanks

Yes, you can pull a very smooth rack focus. You can either click on the button for finer adjustments or hold down for faster increment. HOWEVER, it's completely YMMV and not going to replace a traditional follow focus setup. It's really depends you needs and shooting style. You can never whip to certain focus point in a split second like you would be able to with a traditional follow focus. If you're shooting a run & gun situation where the subject is constantly going in/out of focus, I would not recommend using a LANC.

Overall, you really need to try it out for yourself and figure out if it's something that can work for your shooting style and needs.

I ended up just using the FS100 grip for now. I didn't like it when I got the FS100, but now I have it configured where it actually works really well.
 
I have a Bebob Lanc controller that I got years ago originally for my Sony HC1, and then used it on a Sony V1U. It hasn't had much use since I sold the V1U a few years ago, but I just whipped it out and plugged it into the FS100 and it works well. It starts and stops the FS100 recording and also controls focus. There is a dial on the Bebob that sets the rate of the focus pull. Slow is really slow, fast is probably what I would use if I needed to. I also have a Manfrotto controller for my Sony EX1, which isn't LANC, but they make a similar one for LANC. I kind of like the Manfrotto a bit better, it seems just a little more robust, but it's close.

If I ever put my FS100 on a where where I might need to trigger record or focus, I may use the Bebob. It would be nice to be able to use the handle or the Bebob, probably LANC can't be 'Y'ed right?

Also there are some inexpensive LANC controllers, often used for Sony still cameras or consumer camcorders as well that are pretty small, I believe these will also start and stop the FS100.
 
So I finally found the Sign Video Zoom Commander II Lanc control I bought for folks who rented my Kessler Crane and used Sony cameras. It was hiding in the basement but I dug it out and tried it on the FS100 and it works. The Power On/Off function works, Stop/Star Record function works and so does the Focus control. It is certainly is not as elegant as some of the others but it works. I wrote them a while ago and suggested they look at the FS 100 and its needs along with those of the Ninja but heard nothing back. Shame its a small company based in Portland Oregon.
Anyway I am sure their cheap model would do everything that the II model does on the FS100. What I like about it is it is very small and might come in handy on some mounting situations.
 
It rolled did not step. But I will play around more when I am back home.I am now in the Arctic shooting for a couple of weeks.
