Remote follow focus for £150/$300

I will pay u 100% deposit , Peter. You wont have any problem getting 50 orders from this site. Heck your pre order is way way more than 50 !

Brad,

The first few units are going into the UK rental industry, which I think is a good thing. It gives me the opportunity to test my production processes and try the unit out in the rental area, which is the roughest and most extreme environment that the HoFo would ever find itself in. After this first small run has sold, I will have some money to invest in producing the units for my real customers, which have always been indie film makers. It is expensive to produce these, as I am sure you are aware, and I don't have the upfront cash to make the follow focus units at the moment.

I am updating this forum because you lot are the people I designed this for, and you have seen it grow up, and this thread is a bit of a journal, and it would be a shame to let this thread fall behind.

It wont be long, once the distributor have their units, I will release some info and you can ring them up and buy one direct. After this first small run, we will be starting on the next run of units, which will be sold to the people on this and other forums, at last.

Thank you for your patience, it will pay off.

Pete.

i appreciate the response, the more info you can give us on timeline and progress the easier it is to swallow i think. Also, i'm pretty sure my market (Winnipeg, Canada) is going to challenge any piece of film equipment, -50 Celsius winters, +30 Celsius summers not that i expect anything to work in -50... including myself.

I think that's a great idea Pete. I rarely ever buy anything first generation. It always takes some time to work out the kinks.

I guess if anything you should be flattered people are so eager to get their hands on one of your sweet rigs.

Keep up the good work my friend and if you decide to take deposits let me know.

Jeremy

I'm interested in one of these, but will most certainly be patient with Pete's production process. Good things come to those who wait, they say...

Hi!
I have a friend who is now trying to help me build a remote follow focus unit (not wireless).
Before we start we need to get a good servo motor.
As I read on your posts you changed that motor several times for not being so precise.
What motor will you recommend for the unit? or at least what are the specs needed to achieve a good precise unit?

Thanks in advance,
Liran

Would like comments on this page from the manual. The limit setting buttons can be quite confusing, but I hope this drawing will clear it up....

i dunno... seems fairly self explanatory but then we've talked about this from the beginning and i understood the concept before it was a physical button... is there going to be a textual description of the limit buttons alongside this drawing or no?

This diagram is part of a double page spread, there is a page of text on the other side which explains what to do.

Glad you like it.

I am looking for a few people to have a look at the instruction manual, just to check that everything makes sense and I havnt gone mad from looking at it for the last few weeks and missed some massive error.

email me at pete<at>hocusproducts<dot>com and I will send it to you....
