Yeahhhhhh :-D

The deep slots have the connectors in, the little plastic pots have the pins in and the plier thing is the crimp tool. This is all the connectors for the RX units in the first run.

Hey Pete will it ship with a lanyard for the TX unit if so is she strong ? I guess thats a dumb question everything else is such HQ

Hi,

Working on the Lanyard, a lot of them are designed for ID badges and have a breaking safety point thing.

The software is Turbocad Mac Deluxe/Pro.

Nice talking about all this tools and ways to do things, but when will we see the day that this product will be available and with what price???????????????????

We had the 5 axis pallet loading machine runining all night making motors. When one is finished, it takes it out of the machine and loads a new blank automatically.

You can see a few finished caps in the foreground.

Cap in its fancy special clamp thing.

is this gonna be in a budget price range or are we gonna see a new thread in a few months titled "how to build an affordable remote ff"?

dont mean to be negative, this stuff makes me dribble, ive watched your plan grow from the start, and each process makes me think oh god how much does that cost?

please dont take as a negative, this is a great product but uncertanty on price had me asking in my local remote control shop on how to make a cheap one.

Hi El,

I am aware that this project has ballooned slightly from the original aim, but I firmly belive a better product is worth the time extra cash. We have actually saved money by using aluminium instead of plastic parts in many places, as the mould costs add a lot, so machining from solid is cheaper.

Things like the interchangable marking disk do not really effect the price, as its simply a differnt way of mounting the same bits down, no real changes to the part complexity.

I am confident that once you see a Hocus Focus in the flesh you will appriciate the extra bits.

The HoFo has recently been posted on the Steadicam Forum and is being examined by all the professionals on there, so that just shows you what kind of product we are now dealing with.

Will post some photos abit later, have just picked up a load of bits :-D

Pete.

Here is another neat one:

The machine cut two of these plates overnight (unmanned) and it seems that the tap that threads the motor mount holes was damaged and the threads are about 10microns out, so they were rejected and are being re made tonight, with a new tap tool in the turret.

I have taken the defective plate and will keep it on my windowsill :-D

These plates are then bolted into a wire erosion machine that spends 12 hours cutting each one out using the .2mm brass wire and a massive bolt of electricity.

i love these machines :-D

Wow is it interesting to watch is there arcing?

A bit of arcing, but the plate is submerged in a tank of dielectric fluid to cool the wire, so you can't see much. Its also really slow, so its not very interesting to watch...

If the price ends up anywhere under $1,000, it's at the semi-pro level. A BFD wireless follow focus + M1 motor is over $3,500, and that's the basics. As an entry level Steadicam operator, I can't afford to drop that much cash yet, but something that's sub-$1,000? That's amazing. The amount of detail and time Peter has put into it is obvious, and I'm okay with it being a "money making venture." You don't invest like this an not expect return.
For those who've followed this entire thread, saw what he's done, and felt "mislead," I'd have your head examined. He's said over and over that it will no longer be $300, he's shown us pictures, demo's and provided descriptions of what he has done. Anyone with a brain can see that this product will end up costing more than the original stated priced (which was for a wired FF). The people over at SteadicamForum are looking over the HoFo, and they know their stuff. When I get good reviews from them, and good reviews at the price, I can trust it.
Looking forward to seeing the final deal, Peter! Consider me first in line for the HoFo.
