Remote Control not working

so I order new batteries for my DVX100A and got them today all excited, however after loading a fresh battery, nothing.
Am I missing something here? Is there something I overlooked, the manual says to hold the stop and slow advance to set it, but it still will not work for me.

The wireless IR remote control? Make sure that you have the remote setting in the menus set compatibly.
