Relinking files

Hi everyone,
I'm kind of new with avid so i don't know yet how to fix problems that maybe are really easy to solve.
I'm trying to relink some files cause the hard disk where they were originally stored went lost. I have all the avid media files on a new hard disk but when i open the project and i click on "relink" a dialogue window appears and says that no clip were relinked. In order to get a new data base in the folder creating, i've already tried to delete the old ones, but nothing happens. I found out also that in the avid media files->mxf->1 some files are double, so i tried to delete the twin file so that avid didn't get confuse on which one chose for the relinking, but it didn't work.

Best regards
Thanks

I seem to be having a similar problem...

Relinking seems to be a weak point in the Avid system--never an issue with FCP.
I don't have an answer and will follow your post for a solution.

2 things to check.... 1 sometimes when I relink I have "relink to new sequence" selected and think nothing has been relinked or changes. If you have that option selected make sure you double click on the new RELINKED seq to view what has been done instead of your old one missing media. (Sounds dumb, but I cant tell you how many times I've done this for 10 minutes before I realized I was looking at the wrong seq)

The second thing is try different relink settings. Sometimes relinking with differenet settings gets the results you want (highest quality media for example). Another thing is to blow away the database files in the mxf>1 folder (not in 'create media file', then clear recycle bin. When you restart the avid, if the system doesnt slowly rebuild the database on startup you're not doing it right. I could suggest Hope this helps.

You cannot relink if you are using P2. You have to reimport the media.
Stussi, what version of Media Composer are you using? And what kind of media is it?
