I recently discovered that a USB card reader that I was plugging my SD card into to transfer footage to my PC was corrupting some of my footage. Files copied over OK, but every few files had a couple of corrupt frames here and there. This happened consistently enought that when i left the card in camera and transferred via the USB cable, i was able to verify that the same files transferred correctly.
Question: how are people transferring their footage to PC? what software are you using? is there any software that can actually verify the transferred files? I was not aware that parts of a file could be corrupt when the file appeared to transfer correctly.
Any advice on this basic (but crucial!) stage of the workflow would be appreciated.
(I was and still currently usethe auto import feature of the PhotoFun software that came with my GH2, only now i have stopped using my USB card reader...)
P.S Here is a link to a few clips with examples of the corruption i was experiencing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxKwJllesUw
Again, the footage on the card was fine, it just corrrupted this was after transferring via USB card reader.
