this confuses me

if i set camera to 24p is the shutter supposed to be set to 1/24?

if i set camera to 30p is the shutter supposed to be set to 1/30?

what is the relationship between the two?

(one reason i ask is because it seems setting the fps can change cam to same shutter speed)

You can set the shutter to whatever you like, each different setting will result in a different look. The standard setting is 180 degrees, or 1/48 for 24p and 1/60 for 30p. Any slower may result in smearing but will let in more light, any faster may cause a stuttered or strobing look but will be very crisp and will result in a darker image. Increasing the shutter speed is usually only done with high action.

On the 150, when the shutter is turned off it is at 180 degrees.

Off means 360 on my Sony also. And Barry, is there a shutter off on the DVX? ANd if so, does it mean 360 or does it mean "default" as you've alluded to here? I haven't shot regularly with the DVX for some time, and I cannot remember.

What would be the best shutter speed under artifical lighting if running in 30P?

1)Football Field

2)Indoors under Flourecent lights

3)Dark "party hall" with DJ lights etc?

4)outdoors
