Regarding Editing in Vegas then CC in AE

Does anyone edit their stuff in another program then CC in AE?

If so, what is your workflow like? Do you picture lock then add effects then export to AE for CC? Or do you picture lock the raw footage, export to AE for CC, then export back to Vegas or another NLE for final effects, etc.?

I want to know how others CC using AE and editing in Vegas, because right now its a bit tedious.

Also, how do you edit different scenes in your exported clip, since technically the clips merge into one giant clip?

What I do.

What I do.

What camera are you using and what file format are you edting?

I edit my .mfx files with Vegas/Raylight. I make all my simple cuts with no fades...etc. I then "save as" and change "save as type" to .aaf (Edit Protocol Compliant AAF File). Then I import this file into AE, which references the native mxf files. It imports all my edits to seperate layers which I can precomp if needed.

Try it out if you are using .mxf files. If I am editing something else, I usually export as a Quicktime file (animation codec) and CC that in AE.

Search the board and you will find more info/preferences.

Color correction and color grading can be very tedious.
You can make a preset in afterfx .Just start with a shot ,the master shot i cal it, cc / grade it, then save your filters/adjusment in a preset. Now you can aplly
it to the other shots and tweak them to your hearts content.
If you got one whole mov file .Theres is a script out there that can brake your sequence in to multiple clips once imported in to afterfx.
Google it.
