Reflectors and Soft boxes, please help

I am shooting an independent film, it is a low budget project and I am interested in building my own soft boxes and reflectors, does anybody know how to make either of these professionally but on the other hand inexpensive. The project is going to be shot in black and white, so I need to make sure my whites are not too much over saturated.
I know the basis of building a cheap reflector and soft boxes, but I would like to know other people's input.

check ebay for knock-off reflectors, and buy the 5 in 1's.. very cheap. they have the normal white and silver, but you can also use the color to be either gold, transparent (think softbox without the sides, and black so you can use it as a flag.

Just make sure you buy reflector holders.. unless you will have alot of bored people around that are willing to be even more bored by holding them all day.
