reflector for video

You might be able to find something equivalent on eBay for much cheaper. The only problem with this kinds of reflectors is it is hard to keep them steady outside. They are very fast and get the job done.

Definitely not good for outside. The slightest breeze plays havoc with these. I bought a Matthews reflector yoke (probably about $130) and fitted 1 inch reflective insulation board into it. Put that on a Matthews stand and it's been in solid use for 15 years.

I happen to love the reflectors. It's true that they aren't good for outdoors and I am guilty of having different ones for out doors work but I do love the fact that they are quick and easy to use. May take a minute to figure out how to fold it up but it really isn't that tough and makes life easy!

Are there any disadvantages to using these cheaper reflectors besides not being able to use them outdoors?

From what I've seen from other Opteka products, it's on the cheap side but not junk. I'd give it a try.

Even the worst of my fold reflectors are really handy. You can always strip them of their reflector parts and use them as overheads outdoor in the sun or regular diffusers.
