Reducing noise

Hey I was wondering what settings/techniques you all use to reduce the noise in the blacks and dark areas, I seem to always have noise/grain even with out any gain, I have been playing around with the master ped and seeing what happens lately to try and change it- Any tips or techniques would be appreciated- Thanks!

The quickest way for you to get this information would be to do a search of the forum. This is a topic that has been thoroughly discussed over and over again. Also, you might want to get your hands on Barry's book on the HVX for some additional guidance.

Scene File changes that will keep the image more clear: Black Press, non-cine gamma, lower the Mast Pedestal below -4, Raise the coring to +3 or more...If you do not want to add noise remember the following: keep the detail level at or below 0, do not increase the gain on the camera, decrease the shutter speed (or 'increase' the shutter angle) and finally, add light!
