Hey, I haven't been on here for a while. The last time i was i remember reading a post about how to reduce noise on the HPX170. I've tried searching (via search on this site and google) and can not find the link. anyone happen to have it? Seems like it would be a good sticky note for the top.

With all the Panasonics, to reduce the appearance of noise you want to increase detail coring and decrease detail level. Tone down the chroma level to avoid introducing chroma noise, and lower the master pedestal some; also consider using B.Press gamma.

Barry, do you have some specific settings you like to use? Do you use any negative settings for Detail, V. Detail and Chroma?

I've been using:

Coring = +3 to +5
Master Pedestal = -15 (IRE 0 with cap on ~ -9 to -15)
CineD Gamma
Cine Matrix
All other settings = 0

Although those settings help, there just is no substitute for increasing light levels...

Also, I've used the Neat Video plugin and if used carefully can yield some pretty clean-looing images...
