RED's new Dragon sensor

^ I didn't get that, I think they are full frames (6000x3000), recorded with 2:1 compression
BTW, they said that's a 2000 ASA shot right there. WOW.

Mysterium-X is what is in the epic/scarlet (and was offered as a sensor upgrade for the original RED One), isn't it?

I think it is Mysterium, Mysterium-X, and Dragon. This is their 3rd gen

The 2:1 was in reference to the aspect ratio 6000x3000 I'm pretty sure. 2:1 is a common aspect ratio selectable on EPIC in many resolutions. They make no mention of the compression ratio used in camera, and currently no RED cameras can do anything under 3:1.

The full sensor on the DRAGON is 6144 x 3160

The only reason to say nope to that and instead opt for a another brand of product of comparable price is lack of knowledge about what is possible in post with Red files. Once you taste that, you're hooked. The problem is, many of you don't know what you're missing with your baked cameras, or don't want to make the effort to learn R3D post to any point of expertise.

OR, maybe it could be not everyone wasns to deal with the workflow when you have lightning fast turn arounds. I get it's great to have the extra data with shooting raw. Not everyne needs it for every job. It always boils down to the right tool for the job. period

Either way, it's fun to watch how everyone gets all excited and worked up over a single grab, in fact one guy said he was so excited, he pissed in his pants, if thats not a fanboy, I dk what is.

there is always a need for raw for certain jobs,
but as the dr on sensors increase the more the chance that the job can be done exactly the same with a baked codec
and as you well know, time is money
