believe it when i see it. There have been many others with similar claims and products that have hit the market even that then do not meet the expectations, Redrock doesn't exactly have the most stellar track record in terms of delivering promised goods.

that being said, if they can accomplish this with a motor that is actually strong enough to be useful on a Red then I would buy one in a second, however I think i'll just keep saving for a bartech at this point.

They announced this ages ago. I don't think they'd come out and talk about it if the release wasn't imminent. For $500, even if it only handled slr lenses, its a bargain. If you are handling red cameras then you probably should spring for a bartech or viewfactor.

not many people here have much faith, who can blame them? $500 for a wireless focus system is competing against their own normal follow focus.
If they pull this off, they deserve major kudos. If not then they deserve hell.

A remote that handled only slr lenses would be pretty useless in our opinion.

So this was an announcement for the announcement.
lol - it's not even an announcement about the announcement, but we were asked about it.

When we make the announcement it will be clear.

Yeah, the mattebox was supposed to be 500 bucks also...

Yep, our target price for the original mattebox was around $500 - that's why we are open about calling it a "target". As it was spec'd it probably would have been that price, but you may also recall that after that the specs on the microMatteBox went through the roof - we added swing-away and the arm, a unique stackable stage design in 1 stage increments, all stages rotate, ability to handle up to 5.65" square filters, improved materials, and after all that and more the price increased by only a few hundred dollars. For that spec there is still nothing close to the microMatteBox out there today.

Dan also nice to see you are still kicking around - drop me a line sometime!

Hi Mic

As I mentioned in my PM to you as well, we haven't announced the latest specs (which are a pretty big advance compared to what we announced a few years back). But for reference you can check out the existing web page:

http://www.redrockmicro.com/microRemote.html

Also I'd recommend subscribing to our twitter feed @redrockmicro and we'll send out updates instantly when the announcement happens

i do enjoy redrock products but this one will have to really perform. Something like a wireless follow focus just can't be sketchy. I've seen enough problems with a bartech even on set to know that wireless FF's can be frustrating at times.

though at the target price, i'll take a serious look at the reviews.

It's an absolutely amazing value, I'll give you that.

.

I see on the site it says

"QuickCalibrate™ lens calibration – keep from damaging lens and gears, simple and quick steps "

So it sounds like it is manual calibrate of end stops like the Bartech ?.

So, goin thru the video interview, $500 only gets us the
'brain' of the system ? Meaning they gonna charge extra
fo the ff receiver, gear unit, cables ....etc ?

Hi LuckyStudio

Our target price of $500 is for the a working system, not just the brain.

As I said before, that wasn't intended as an announcement, so we'll cover all all the details when we do the *actual* announce.

Cheers

Brian

I am certainly going to buy one. I'm a huge fan of Redrock's products and this Remote FF sounds like the product many of us have been waiting for. All my RR products outperform my expectations.

Brian... sell me the first one!
