Redrock Shoulder Mount With DSLR

I'm getting the Redrock Shoulder Mount Bundle.

I will be using it on the DSLR (T2i) but, I wont be able to afford the DSLR Baseplate. I know that I can screw the DSLR onto the rod clamp temporarly.

However, I just noticed something that could prevent me from doing that. If I have the DSLR mounted on the rod clamp, will the DSLR interfeer with the handles in the front?

I want to put the camera as far forward as possible but, since there are handles in the front, would I be able to turn the focus? Will the Lens of the camera (50mm f/1.4) bo over the handles, or will I have to have it behind it?

Your camera should be fine if you mount it directly to the shoulder mount rod clamp... you should still be able to focus even if the camera is all the way forward. I would definitely recommend using a manfrotto or giottos quick release adapter and plate (the giottos is compatible with the manfrotto plates if you already have them) if you can't afford the DSLR baseplate. The advantages to the DSLR baseplate is the height and the ability to quickly lock into other rigs ("hot swappable").

Are you going to be using an external monitor? If not, I recommend getting the microlink4 riser with some 6" or 9" carbon rods so you can see the LCD screen better (less neck strain too).

FYI, the redrock micro carbon rods are awesome (super light, better tolerances, silky smooth)!
