Redrock Microshouldermount

I bought one for my 7D to work with the ikan 5600 monitor and it works great when balanced right on the shoulder pad's mounting area to reduce arm strain. For best HMC use, I would get a LANC controller so you don't have to take a hand off of the grips to adjust focus and zoom.

I'm considering getting those weights to counter balance the rig better.

HMC doesn't have LANC, you need to get the appropriate controller but yes, get a controller :)

I just used one for a very short period of time... they are rock solid and pretty heavy.

I don't think I would be on a long shoot with one... otherwise they produce some good footage.

I should look up the specs before answering... but with a HMC on it it felt like 20lbs. But I didn't weigh it..

update website says over 4lbs... so it was probably around 15lbs with all the camera accessories.

I was use to the varizoom sholder mount which is ultra lightweight.

Thanks for the responses fellas I went ahead and ordered one. I will post my thoughts on the setup when I get it.

Like getting a steadicam rig set up, it's all about the balance to alleviate stress on the user. I haven't quite gotten the balance perfection, but it feels pretty floaty when I get it balanced just right.
