Redrock Matte Box

Can Redrock's matte box be mounted onto a stock HVX without a lens adapter?

Just directly on the camera using the right sized donut?

Is this safe?
 
If you just rec'd your mattebox, why don't you take a look at some of the other solutions for on camera mounting as well? Though frankly, I'd love to have Zacuto everything, but sometimes the real world kicks in. I wouldn't let my mattebox sit for a long time waiting on a piece of hardware. BTW, did you get the filter set with it? I did get some good news this morning. My RR Matte Box case is on the way. Maybe, just maybe, I'll see the matte box in August.
 
You could always go with a more inexpensive set of rails first dante.

I have stuff from Redrock, Cinevate, and Zacuto. I love my Zacuto gear, but don't pass up the more inexpensive options for the time being. You can always turn around and resell that stuff on here or somewhere similar.
