hey guys! im going to purchase a redrock adapter. i was just wondering what kind of nikon lenses would you recommend. any input would be appreciated. thanks

dude, tons of this info is on the redrock forum, see what those guys like. Set of Nikon primes, lowest F-stops the best, can go with old ai and ais lenses or newer D lenses. I have a mix of all... 24mm f2.8, 35mm f2 50mm f1.8 85mm f1.8 135mm f2.8, don't bother with a new or old 50mm 1.4 85mm 1.4 and newer 135mm f2 unless you've got the dough.

If you do have the dough, a set of zooms will do you as well (these are the same lenses the guys with the new red are buying cause PL mount cine lenses are more expensive than Kindneys) Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 28-70mm f2.8 80-200mm f2.8

Outdoors you'll be golden, indoors you better have some light. Be prepared to lose at least a stop and a half with the redrock. Best of luck.

this is almost TOTALLY a matter of taste. i say blow-off a 50mm, too small for drama - too big for effect.

i have a 35, 55 and micro nikkor 105 (which is a really deep tele that opens a lot of doors creatively)

try not to get ANY lens slower than a 4. unless you are outside in daylight they will be nearly too slow to use.

like you'll read. most folks prefer primes - and i agree. BUT a couple of handy speedy zooms will change your world. i played with a nikon 80-200 AFS lens the other day. as i understand its kind of a digital/film lens with a fixed apprature of 2.8 which is fast for a big zoom. more of an effect lens, but still cool. found used between $600 and $1200.

the best advice is to go to your local used camera shop with camera, adapter and external monitor in hand and try what they have - the hunt is half the fun...
