Redrock Captain Stubling rig with D3s

Hi,

I was planning to get redrock micro captain stubling rig, wich I would like to use with a Nikon D3s.
After I consulted with a redrock guys they told me that I would need a micro riser plus additional set of rods to rise the follow focus higher since camera is higher than those which are lacking integrated battery grips.

Now, this all makes sense until I found that post:

He states that he used his D90 with battery grip attached, as I understand without any addition parts.

This all has confused me up quite a lot. Since all the requests I have done to redrock guys about user experience and comfortability when it comes to that rig and larger cameras, they ignore me. Not to add that I have really hard times placing a order through productiongear.co.uk who sells redrock gear in europe. They seem to be having time for everything else than resale. But that is another matter.

Have you seen what the D90 vs D3s looks like? The D3S has a built in battery grip, so its lens is probably around 2 inches higher than the D90.

Have a look at using Shoot35's Tripod Connector instead of Redrock's high DSLR baseplate. Flip it upside down or mount the tripod plate on top of the connector and you should be able to get the D3s low enough without having to split the rails in two levels.

Wayne Kinney there is superhelpful - he patiently answered a barrage of beginners question from me when I was putting together my rig.
