REDCOM CORP FILM FINAL CUT !

Ok here is tha dilly.

I only had 5 days to shoot - edit & put music to this thing - The shots are shaky as hell as the police dont like you setting up a tripod anywhere in the city of london lately >:(  - especially pointing at corp buildings etc.
Anyhow - the company are a headhunting agency - so I i went for a covert undercover theme & figured long far shaky shots will do.
Its a 1st draft & will progress with it - still haven't logged all the footage but they needed something fun for a presentation asap.

Damn, Carrington... You have this uncanny ability to make the uninteresting, interesting.

You could have said that this was you're final cut and I would have still been amazed.

Can't wait to see more.

What song was that in the background? It's catchy as hell. ;D

Very very nice, I love the color correction and split screen shots. A lot of style and it still has a sense of continuity.

That's a WHOLE lot of livetype, though, but who cares...it looks like you spent days in max and ae and no one can tell the difference.

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

nice carrington.

25p? did u have any strobing problems on the houses?

i like the CG work in the beginning and also the blueish colour.
the only thing i had problems with was to differentiate the hunted and the hunter. they all wear similar suites and are hard to distinguish from each other.....

editing is already good, although you might be able to shave a minute off. gl with it.

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Great work, nice cosmopolitan London feel to it ( didnt rain ;)) maybe just a tad too long. Love the music . . . who did it?

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

It definately had that 'MI5' style, liked it. A bit long though.

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Yep - everyone is totally on point about the length - this is just a 1st draft & there will be more cg's in the middle with more info on company etc so yes- it will pick up the pace & get to the point alot more.
Hopefully I should have a final cut by the end of this week

:)

Cool...

Still getting the hang of LiveType myself. Artistic note: didn't see anything about a hunter & hunt-ee there, so it must be quite subtle or I haven't had enough coffee still.

Lastly, isn't there a "synchr-scan" function or so which would help reduce or eliminate the vertical scroll problem on the monitors? Anyone ever use this successfully?

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

synching at 1/60th will pretty much match any tv perfectly .. computer monitors are generally between there and 1/75th and somtimes much higher. but you can just change the refresh rate of the monitor as well.

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

This might sound very " un pro " of me but, I preferred the look of the flickereing - it just looks hi-tek & scfi ish.

Shoot me down but I like it & dont know why ?

I think I will emphasize the hunter/huntee issue - maybe even with text.
I agree that there isn't enough explaining coming from the images.

Cheers

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

i liked the flickering too- it breaks up the office monotony .. and makesthe scene appear more "techy".

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM 1st Draft

iamloser - thats right - it turns a mundane office shot into a spaceship ;D

well.. . you know what i mean.

Yes it was all 25p except for some shots that I used a sony pc120 for - I just de-interlaced those & color corrected.
The bluish color mostly came from the wht balance preset.
I have already addressed the hunter / huntee issue by putting text in the bottom left & right corners ie: when the agent is running " agent" appears in the right corner etc kind of like a ps2 game - it looks kinda cool actually - will keep the dvx'ers updated when I get a final cut up.

Cheers for the feedback people ;)

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM FINAL CUT !

3 things:

1) Where can I grab an mp3 or cd with the music you used. I was humming that in my car the other day.

2) How come the blonde in the high heels(near the end) never made the first cut? And what was she handing out? Was it in the script?

3) Have you recieved any feedback from the company you made this for? I'm sure they were impressed.

Can't wait to see more of your work. ;)

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM FINAL CUT !

 Hey Contact,

1) Where can I grab an mp3 or cd with the music you used.  I was humming that in my car the other day.

Well I wasn't intending on releasing it as a single but maybe my publishing company will come up with something.

2) How come the blonde in the high heels(near the end) never made the first cut?  And what was she handing out?  Was it in the script?

I uploaded a 1st draft before - I hadn't even logged all the footage yet - so I was still in the middle of editing - impatience is a flaw of mine.
I think she was handing out flyers for a strip club - as for scripting - there was no script :o I just took the camera down & started making up stuff as we went along - I had an overall theme in my head with the MI5 covert spying thing but it was simple as headhunting is very MI5-ish in reality anyway - it was the best idea I could come up with in such a short time

3) Have you recieved any feedback from the company you made this for?  I'm sure they were impressed.

Yes they were very happy with the end result & were keeping up with my progress as I was building it - so the process was very clear apart from all the IT jargon at the begining - I didn't understand it but - as long as it looked good I was happy.

This is my 2nd ever video project after the dirty raver so - Im still on a learning curve - I want to make a short film next ;)

Also - if anyone can help me out on the titles at the begining?
You might of noticed that the red text that scrolls across near the begining at the bottom of the screen is impossible to read after encoding for the net - its crystal clear on the tv monitor but through a computer monitor its shaky & unreadable & after encoding - even worse ?
Any ideas - I use fcp by the way.

Cheers

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM FINAL CUT !

BRAVO!!!
Two Thumbs Up, Way Up!
I can't believe it you did in 5 days,
Only one thing bothered me just a little bit,
there were too different fonts used.
just a personal preference ;)

Re: REDCOM CORP FILM FINAL CUT !

Thats a funny thing - when I started on this project I had no idea what fonts to use - so I tried a few for the client.
They wanted all 3 - they loved it & I thought no way - I'll just choose the best - anyhow - once I'd taken the other 2 out - the intro just didn't have the same impact as before & the client also noticed straight away - " wheres the other cool font ? " so I just reloaded what I had in the begining & never looked back.I guess I didn't even have time to question it - I didn't mind it & the client loved it so its a done deal :)
Anyhow I know there are lots of " no no's " in this game but I guess I just go with my gut for now.
Cheers for the 2 thumbs up tho chi-red - Im glad for any opinions - nice one ;)
