Red zoom 18-50

Hi everyone,

so far I have been using nikon zoom and prime lenses on my sony f3 camera (17-35, 85 1.4, 50 1.4) and have been fairly happy. A couple of days ago I got the opportunity to test the red zoom 18-50 lense. Loved the feeling of a true pl mount lense and the ability to pull focus in a controlled way. Now I have to make the offer for the lense and I was wandering what would be a fair market price for the second red zoom 18-50 lense. I know some of you have bought this lense second hand and I was wandering what was the price you paid for it. Thanks for the input..

best regards

Prices are going up. I had seen them around $2500 a couple of months ago. Last month, I paid $3200 for mine. There is one on eBay for a by it now of $3300. While the fair price should be under $3K, it's desirability has gone up. Honestly I wish I gone the extra and bought the 17-50. Much better mechanics; much better glass. My 18-50, though, is fortunately one of those with good mechanics. On this lens your mileage may vary.

If you can, hold out for a pre-owned rpz 17-50. A lot of them will hit the market because they vignette on 5k epic-x which is now shipping.

Remember all PL lenses are high maintenance equipment. People seem shocked that lens needs to be calibrated and collimated- ever. That's the way it has been in pro/rental environment. Guys service lenses (or at least give them a good look on collimator and test projector) after every job. I've done it for 25 years- I know

There's an 17-80 ft scale on ebay right now for $5000 bid and $6000 buy it now. And also an 18-80 ft scale also, only bid at $2500 right now.

I have nothing to do with those sales, but just to let you know.

Hi,

I cant find the ebay auctions that you were talking about, can you please send the links. Thanks...

I paid 2500$ two months ago for my 18-50mm, 5500$ for the 50-150mm. Asked for them at reduser and got the offer in two days. By the way they both work really nice with the F3. I'm planning on getting the Duclos 11-16mm aswell.

I bought my 18-50 through Reduser. Never got a response when seeking 50-150. Bought a Sigma 50-150 in Nikon mount.
