I was out in the field today and while i was recording a red "X" (looking) logo popped up on the upper left corner of my LCD. I didnt have any panny documentation with me so i had no idea what it was. My guess was dirty heads so i stopped recording (no major loss) but since im still out in the field, if anyone here knows what that logo means it would be apreciated. If not, ill just read the manual when i get home.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Tell em what he's won !

well bob he's won a first class trip to the store to get a head cleaning tape

No no no no no no, cleaning tapes are bad. I had the red X and it kept coming back after about ten minutes when I was using the cleaning tape. Apparently they are abrasive, and can rub dirt into your heads, potentially damaging them. So I decided to clean them myself.

I just got done cleaning my DVX, look at Barry's guide. Get some Chamois swabs, and some denatured alcohol from a hardware store and go to town. So far my DVX is working good.

Just stay away from cleaning tapes!!!

well, i went out and bought cleaning tapes and it appears to have done the job. For future refrence i will look at his guide and do it myself. :) hopefully the "dry type" cleaning head didnt cause any damange. (i only ran it for 10 seaconds the specified time)

I would have suggested that but he stated that he was out in the field and I didn't think he had the time to be cleaning his heads at that point so the cleaning tape would have been the best bet. Now what you said was correct if you're able to get them cleaned for real then definitely do that over a cleaning tape because they are abrasive

Hmm I really dont see whats wrong with a cleaning tape if not overused... I have a Panasonic cleaning tape. Its been used twice (at five seconds each time) in 100 hours of head use, my heads never had a problem.
