RED workflows?

Hey guys... I'm finally editing some RED footage intended for DVD (festivals) but I can't really find much as far as work flows. Can anyone point me in a direction? I'm surprised the reduser site doesn't have anything stickied.

Anyway, I'm editing in FCP 7.

In 7 you can L&T your raw clips right into FCP. Works great for me. Better than proxies and simpler than converting everything to ProRes first.

REALLY??? Wow, I wonder why I can't do it. I'm using 7 as well but when I L&T and then navigate to the r3d files they are greyed out. ugh... lol.. Back to the apple site. But and other info is much appreciated.
 
got it thanks Jim... I read that doing it this way has a drawback of downsizing 2:1 during the ingesting process. Is this still the case?

Yes, because the maximum image size in final cut is 2k. Unless this is intended for theater release, 2k should be more than enough. Depending on what kind of system you have you can edit straight from the proxies, but its probably best to convert to pro res, especially if you have a ton of footage. I myself use clipfinder to transcode my footage as it can be run in the background.
