Red too bright

Is it normal that I often get a too bright red? To adjust it like my eyes see it, I've to set the Chroma Level to -6 or -5 but it desaturate all my colors :-/ . It happen when I shoot outdoor when it's cloudy and when I shoot indoor. Is it just a light problem?

On my friend's dvx, it's written FLAM at the top of the LCD? What does it mean and how to turn it off?

Re: Red too bright

I think the FLAM might have to do with one of the scene file names possibly? As for the reds, you don't necessarily have to desaturate to get rid of them. You can adjust the chroma phase, and that will shift your color balance away from red, and toward green. That will help alot, but the DVX does love the reds. You can also try changing your color temp, that should help too.

Re: Red too bright

If I change the chroma phase, the red will become more orange or more pink! For example it's suppose to be a little dark red and it's bright. IF I close the iris a little bit, the red is okay but the image is way to dark...

Re: Red too bright

you can always desaturate the reds in post. Plus you might want to add a chroma blur to the shots with offending reds, as they will most likely look blockey when the chroma level is too high.
