RED Scarlet at CES

I jones for one of these in a really bad way, although I'm waiting for the APS-C sensor (or even FF35). I'm feeling that the cost of them, while amazing for what the camera does, isn't going to threaten DSLRs just yet. I'll have to wait for the next big project before I can realistically get into the $5K-10K market again.

I wonder if Canon Just releases an Update that allows the Camera to Record RAW in video mode, If it records RAW stills, so why is 24fps (stills per second video) Whats the big Deal, I hope Someone Hacks this Soon!

The question is whether or not the sensor and/or hardware on one of the current Canon's can handle those kind of frame rates at RAW. Probably not, considering how they have to bin or line skip in order to get the current frame rates with h.264 as it is.

RAW, high frame rates are all very well... but in the end people will judge the scarlet on image quality.

Personally I don't see how a sensor from RED can match one from Canon or Nikon, who spend more on R&D. In an arms race, money & pace of development speaks volumes.
