P.s. Does this mean I have to check in at reduser? That site makes me feel 'icky'

Congrats on the purchase though... i'm am very tempted myself today, but want to let the dust settle on everything.

It's just a tool that gets hauled to set in the back of a truck. Only slightly more important than the phone that they call me on to say I got the job.

I am buying! Even though I only have Nikon Glass and might not get the full AF + AI monte....a Nikon mount is announced...I am in!

I've looked over the 300 shorts and none of them have struck me like the F3 short here did at its announcement: http://vimeo.com/16898584

50MB/s is not enough bandwidth, and I feel like we're seeing that in the vimeo encodes for the 300 shorts. Just seems to be falling apart in many places (sword looks worst in this sense).

We must be watching different videos, because they all look gorgeous to me. I know what to look for and yet I didn't notice a single image-related flaw in any of them (even at miserly 50mb/s bitrates) - which means that Joe Public is never going to notice anything the matter with footage from these cameras - which means they're 'good enough'.

thats wow. . . guess other (atleast some) cams can do that but its the first time seeing one totally freezed. . how bout the monitor? still working? geez

Looks to me like Scarlet is the big winner here :) Very attractive price point for all of those amazing features. Can I afford one? No, but if i could i would pick it up in a heartbeat, get insurance and start renting that bad boy out while planning my own projects. This thing looks quite future proof. Cinema resolution, huge DR, beautiful image quality. Man.. Makes me almost want to take out a loan.

I think i'll just wait for now, see what happens with these cameras next time this year. I'm sure there are large and fast changes on the way. This is just the beginning so everything sounds exciting, but me thinks progress is going to be exponentially fast.

After years of being a RED denier - I just successfully placed an order for a Scarlet with all the trimmings (in PL mount). Had been taking the wait and see approach, was on the fence about buying an F3 but the announcement last night had a bunch of the ad agency guys I work for all 'abuzz'. So if I want to keep a leg up in the competitive ad world I had to announce this morning that I had ordered a Scarlet...

However I expect that my AF100's will still be very busy over the next year - That's because some of the budgets won't really have room for a RED Raw post schedule. Mind you; maybe recording to a Samurai (or one of the other ext recorders) may produce great results and be more post friendly?

Same here.

Order placed.

No, that's film over the logo. It's packing film to protect it from scratches before it gets to the customer.

Edit...or just tape to label the thing. :)

Can you point me to the official statement for a Nikon mount option? I'll admit I've only read 2 of the 76 pages here so it's probably right under my nose. Congrats on the purchase!
