Red Scarlet Announcement Info

Show your hand!

Show your hand!

Today is the day when you have to show your hand. No more bluffing, bullsh*t and lies.

The truth comes out today and I am super excited because I think Canon, Red and Avid will come out with some great products! Who cares who has the better hand, I think we will all win though it will cost some $$$. ;)

What is the backorder situation like now at RED?

Are people still waiting on EVFs etc?

If Scarlet is amazing.... i'll be very tempted to click "buy now".... but it is a huge concern. I am aware that various RED staff have said the problems are getting better, but is it evident, or just hot air?

With Reds history of buggy software and hardware do people really want to press the buy it now button or wait until theres some cameras out in the real world before they purchase. Even recently the Epic cameras had an issue with not turning on.

The last few R1s i've used have been fine.... I can even live with a few features being shut off.... I can't live without an EVF, Battery module etc.

It can't be so buggy if some of the top director's in the business are using the Epic for all their new projects. The list is pretty impressive!

Do you really think that you and a top director will be treated the same if you call up with a problem?

Backroom deals, the cachet of being "out there" & "first" - You never know what's going on in the background… In the past as a producer I've ended up with the #3 supplier in town in order to get a break on equipment and get the project done. Privately everyone o crew complained to me; in public it was all smiles.

Huh? Reduser is full of people who are waiting to get one or two Scarlets, even though they don't know what it's like. "What ever it is I'm sure it's amazing".

Today is THE day we have all been waiting for! I have no money on the table but can't wait to see the future unfold some amazing new products. Good times for sure.

Based on reports from many users of how both Red and the Reduser community have responded to critical emergencies all over the world, yes. Red's commitment to support for working professionals at all levels is exceptional and the cameras are extremely stable and reliable under heavy use and extreme conditions with release software builds. Certainly on par with anything else on the market.

Red is constantly improving their software and adding features, Beta builds are posted for testing by any user that wants to. There is a constant field test/ debug cycle going on with Beta software for those that care to participate, but use of Beta builds for critical productions is not recommended.

I haven't used EPIC yet, but have heard numerous firsthand complaints from DPs, Assistants, & even the Sound Dept.

I've also read numerous great customer service stories of Red's shipped same day to address production issues.

First time ever me using a Red camera this week and it so happened to be a Red Epic. I am a DSLR shooter and everyone always made it seem how Red is such a difficult camera to use. Honestly in about 10 mins or less I was shooting 5k with the camera and it was very easy to use.

Realistically I cannot afford an Epic, but if I could I would buy it rite now. Some of the best footage I ever seen in my life and it just felt so quality compared to any other camera I ever used. Now Scarlet mey be an option for the prosumer crowd but judging by REDS company history you really need to be making some big bucks in order to have these cameras.
