Red Ruination Blue - a production blog

There's a typo on the poser Adam.

Down at the very botton:

Pretty sure that's supposed to be films, yeah?

Wow, i have finally caught up...

Just want to say a big thanks for all your threads. I am a 19 year old with a passion for film/making and plan to shoot my first short in the next month. I found your threads interesting, informative and inspirational. Keep it up and i look forward to any updates.

Since Adam has been to busy with some projects I thought I'd post this for him.

"Where do I start....

Red Ruination Blue ($2.5M) - Has received some of the best coverage from people like ICM and CAA. I've honed in on two actors (household names), and met one of them. Both are filming large studio projects and can't shoot RRB until January as a minimum. Whereas we are funded and have their commitments, it's all cool, I could just sit around and wait to shoot that, but I'm not. It shoots January-ish. Meantime...

Hangar 14 ($1.5 M) has been dusted off. Cast mostly attached. Shoot August 6th. Fully funded. I'm excited!

My first AD always wanted to be a producer so I gave him his big break. I'm been training him to take some of the load off me. I sent him to Cannes for two weeks...we cleaned up. We got distribution (more or less) on both movies, we got presales in the amount of about half a million on Hangar 14, and forged some relationships that will last a long, long time.

I've got a development guy now and we're reading tons of material, and I mean tons. I've made some great relationships with some money guys (and firms), so it seems we've got an excess of financing, which means that we will smply put more films into production...a slate as it were.

I have a period peice in development as well as a three picture action franchise.

The goal is to build Taormina into not quite a mini major, but something like a Summit Entertainment...along those lines. Don't really need sales agents anymore. We're talking directly to foreign distributors now, and we're in the process of getting a deal with MGM for domestic.

So yeah, things are moving very well, onwards and upwards. I do answer questions on Stacey park's pay site www.filmspecific.com - kind of on staff there to help her out.

Still too busy to maintain what resembles a steady blog.

Also the biggest change is that I've shifted my focus off of one movie at a time to multiple films. We need to be flexible and have packaged films ready to go if there are delays or whatever. The only thing constant seems to be change.

So I'm no longer married to one film. We're committed to a path of film after film, incessant production, constant development with dedicated staff (even during filming) and 1-3 pictures a year until we are to the point where we start doing concurrent films and I don't direct every single one anymore. And we will be at most every film market as well, peddling our films and having hat in hand for the next ones.

I look back at the days of focusing on one little movie, shot with prosumer cameras and my own gear. Man, that was easy. T'aint like that anymore!

Wow, that's big news! I sounds as though Adam has too much on his hands now to bother with us, which is understandable but sad too :)

Wow, that is fantastic! Glad that Hangar 14 is going, and that you have your goal in sight!

You worked hard to make it happen, and deserve the success!
