Red Raven Official

The most important piece of data that was omitted was the date it will be in customers' hands. Without that it means very little as all sorts of things could change in the market and in the final spec of the camera until it's actually delivered. Until then we just get more speculation and pondering about should I wait for this or get that now...

Feb...March delivery dates pending back ordering.

P.S Liam beat me to it ......unlike the RED of old this would be pretty firm.

A lot of the issues Red faced in the past have been resolved. Of course, bringing cameras to market is complex, but I'd be surprised if they f*** this one up.

Looks like a very good camera. Didn't expect this from RED. But sadly, no Super 35 makes it a no-go for me.

If that's your only reason, it's a silly one. It's so close, you won't be able to tell any difference...

I would have liked to see a mount that allowed SB options like M4/3. Lot of great PL adapters for M4/3 already. Lots of great lenses for that sensor size (same as GH2 1.8ish) with great light transmission to make up any depth of field advantage of a larger sensor. Not to mention access to wider focal lengths designed for that sensor size. That would have been a big move. JVC has licensed the mount.

Lot's of the discussions in other threads have focused on the smaller sensor. Yes, it isn't quite S35—but it's a lot more S35 that it is MFT!

All of this looks Awesome. One thing that kind of bothers me though when looking at the packages, neither of them come with a battery, Brick nor Redvolt? Only an AC adapter? Is that right? That seems a little ridiculous to me. Regardless, I was deadset on buying a 4.6k URSA mini for months, this is making reconsider, but I hate that it won't be available until Feb.

Its the same sensor size as the GH2 which was 1.8ish. Lots of people bashed the sensor size and yet its put up some spectacular images punching well above its weight. My issue as said above is how limiting the mount option is and how many great lenses that would cover the sensor can't be adapted. No SB options as well which have become the mainstay of the smaller sensor crowed (M4/3, BMCC)

That was my thought. There's no mirror, so no need for an outdated mount like EF. But then again, so many people, including myself already own EF lenses, you can see why they've gone that route.
