Heh heh heh that's a bit of a stretch but we are working on a killer price for the Raven Packages customers to get a case too. Raven is already too good of a deal and don't be surprised if the cost of Raven goes up sometime after we start shipping ( don't worry all you guys that have your pre-orders in are safe )- Jarred Land

Just an FYI.. If Raven is on your wish list may want to get in soon. "Raven Takes Flight March 17th"

tells me they got a lot of orders, and maybe they want to make some of that money back from upgrading from 4k to 4.5k

And then this time next year they will drop the price by half. Just like they did to the Red Epic.

I still remember that incident. I was planning to buy an EPIC and was falling short of some cash so was waiting. And this price drop happened. I remember you had bought some 2 weeks or so before the price drop and the price drop was not passed on. The worse thing is, it was said that the price drop is because of economies of scale and not because of the imminent launch of Sony F5/F55. A number of companies give the price protection to customers for around 1 month from the date of purchase.

I think they had a price in mind for when the camera was 4k. Obviously they wanted to compete with BM and Cannon for this price, they added 4.5k with no price increase. I think most people who saw the value in a camera that is WAY different than their previous cameras got in early.. Most companies make special prices for early adopters of new products. Doesn't seem like anything new. Also I would imagine the POSSIBLE slight price increase will still be very reasonable for a camera like the Raven.

I personally don't see the need to spend more than $2K on a camera body for my purposes, so I'm perfectly happy using a GH4 and two GH3s for my event videos, and the GH4 for indie films. If I get to the point of needing higher image quality, I'd just rent a RED Weapon or Alexa something or other, along with the appropriate lenses.

Of course, everyone's needs are different, and for some here it makes sense to purchase expensive cameras. But I certainly don't need anything more than a GH4 right now. And I used to own a RED ONE MX. Great image quality and RAW was nice, but I can get better results with a GH4 if I white balance and expose correctly, and it's a heck of a lot easier to shoot and set up the GH4 than the beast of the R1. I'm out of the expensive camera game, because there really is such a thing as "good enough" when it comes to image quality. But that's just me.

If a GH5 comes along and costs less than $2K and has big improvements in image quality, I may upgrade. But if it's just a marginal difference, I'm sticking with what I have.

Preach it brother.

You take your logic elsewhere! :)
