Red Raptor 8K VV Brain - Open box , factory hours

RED cameras ship (or used to) with a few hours on them after they calibrate them.

[After learning this about my own RED cameras from RED, I always assumed everyone else reset their clocks after calibrating and before shipping.]

I was unhappy when I saw my RED Raven had like 7 hours on it...then I thought maybe there is an explanation for this...maybe the cameras don't just get made and shipped all perfectly and ready to go...maybe they need to turn them on first. 😅

I don't know what practices are used today, but in the olden days, certain types of electronics were 'burned in' for a period of time before shipment to lower the infant death rates in the field. It keeps the reputation of the product up and saves hassles.

Something akin to this?

"Before shipping, every ALEXA 35 undergoes extreme temperature and vibration tests to ensure a lifetime of reliable service on set."
