RED ONE indy comedy starts production in Beijing

I've been interested to see other people's comments on how trailers/teasers have helped their projects with the funding process, and I think I'm in the camp that agrees it's pretty essential. Though our movie Red Light Revolution is still in the final stages of post, our teaser on Youtube has generated 6,000 views over 2 weeks, as well as interviews with AP that have played on Austrlalian and Mexican TV:

This has generated a lot of buzz that we wouldn't have been able to get if we hadn't cut a slice of the film together to give people a taste of the final product. A picture, it seems, does speak a thousand words, as people can watch a trailer and "get it" much faster than just through a paper treatment or pitch. This perhaps sounds like a naive and obvious conclusion, but in the past we've always put getting the film finished before getting a trailer finished, which has its logic but definitely gets the publicity ball rolling much later.

From now on, I will always make sure to cut a trailer before a film's finished.

Thanks! Glad you thought it looked good! We'll be trying to submit to festivals later this year.

BTW, hopped on your website--really like the design for Lucky9 Studios; designed yourself? Very interested in how other filmmakers handle their website needs, as we're trying to get one up and running for Red Light Revolution.

Sorry this is such a delayed response. I designed the site myself. It's a modified wordpress theme, however, so the heavy lifting was already done for me.

And, congrats on your initial you-tube success. I wish you nothing but the best.

Thought I'd share a recent episode of Sexy Beijing that interviews the cast and crew of Red Light Revolution:

We've also just returned from the film's premiere at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival, which was an excellent experience--over 450 films played in something like 20 theatres across town. Seeing the film on the big screen certainly made us happy that we'd chosen RED--it blows up beautifully, not a pixel in sight. Hoping to take the film to the US next year!
