Question I need a shot where everything is Black and White except a red kite.

anyone know how to do this?

without me looking for it. i believe there's a tutorial on the following site...and this is it.

Color Pass

i decided to be the nice guy and get the link. :)

You could try making sure that the only thing in your shot that has red in it is the kite, and then desaturate all the other colors. It might not be as clean as rotoscoping, but it would be faster.

First of all what software do you have? After effects has rather a simple method of achieving this.

i have after effects 7, im still learning it, im past the basics, but how would i achieve that? (obviously with keyframing/rotoscoping, but any more help would be apreciated)

even in premiere pro there are effects called color leave, color change and color replace.
the principle of "color leave" is to desaturate all other colors except the color you select with the picker. you can apply that first, and then a color change or replace to make the actual color of the kite become red.

these effects have a few parameters about tolerance, feather area etc.. so you will have to play around with those to get a good result.

as far as i remember, after effects has the same above mentioned effects.
