Red is hit by the economy

Well, I agree it could have been done more diplomatically, saying "that announcement was made a month ago" or something. Or, we could always do it the traditional way around here, with a giant NOOB! picture and a link to the earlier threads.

No intention of making feel bad or upsetting anybody, just trying to point out that this issue has been discussed a couple of times here before, as Barry has said. I was just a bit lazy for looking for the threads and didn't know anything about the "traditional way around here" for doing this things, sorry.

I think Jim said the delay would amount to "a month or two", so it ain't the end of the world.

Seems like rushing them out now would be the idea, but they probably have a pretty good idea of their market, and Jim has stated somewhere in that thread, that a lot of folks they were going to be dealing with that were super excited have now seen camera sales drop like 50%, so they aren't as excited at the moment.

Maybe Nikon/Canon could do that, but I would think it more likely for them to wait and see the market reaction before dumping dollars into it themselves.

RED One has been out for two years now, and we haven't really seen any of the big dogs come out with a similarly spec'd and priced camera, so that logic may not be logic at all. don't forget the overhead that those big companies have. Even if they can reverse engineer something similar, they still have a lot more expenses... I would think anyways.

We shall see.

later,
Jason
