Really looking forward to what they bring back! Have you seen the amount of crazy stuff they have on the international space station? They have the full set of Nikon glass and much more
 
The C500 & Codex recorder is already there shooting all the IMAX footage......it went up earlier this month.

“Of the digital cameras we tested for spaceflight, the Canon EOS C500’s image quality was more film-like than the other systems,” said Neihouse. “The sharpness is superior to some of the larger sensors. And it is more user-friendly for the astronauts. We have a good track record with Canon cameras in space.”
 
RED(and Oakley) remind me of Nike. I used to work with a producer whose wife was an executive there and he told me that Nikes philosophy was "we're a marketing company that happens to make shoes". RED is a marketing company that happens to make cameras. I'm not knocking their products, just saying that they are great at hyping their products and what they're involved in, no matter how grand or inconsequential. They're the people that could quite literally sell ice cubes to Eskimo's.

This thread was posted (I'm assuming) due to the contract RED recently signed with NASA... But the first Red footage in space happened awhile ago I'm pretty sure. I mean, a couple years ago NASA started using REDs, sooo...

Sooner than Canon? I dunno. Film was the first thing to be shot in space, so it's not like Canon really wins much... I doubt Canon was the first digital camera in space either.

NASA has been using Canon for quite a while....the XL-H1 went up on the shuttle a few times (before RED existed), then the XH-G1(lighter weight) went up and were used among other things, the HD live shots for NASA TV, etc......

Wow haha, does it really have to be a pissing contest on who went to space first? Anywhere in the article did RED state they were the first and only? No. I know you people love your cameras and hate on RED but who has the contract with NASA with the Space agreement Act? RED. That's all they are stating that they were chosen to be the primary camera for the new agreement. Not that they were the first or the last.

Thats if they get them up there being we have to hitch rides up. NASA is a joke.
 
Red Dragon is a nice camera. If we are talking about hassle, let's talk film. F'ck all this brand war. F'ck it! Who the F'ck cares?!?!? They all suck. They all make an image. They all are in it for profit. I have issues with every camera system out there. Even film. Arguiing over this is like talking about Renee's new look. She looks great. Who the f'ck cares?!?!?!

The iPhone is a nice camera too. You can also play candy crush on it.
