Red filter question?

I know the DVX doesn't shoot black and white - it's done in post

However, as many of you know, red filters are often used with film in black and white to increase contrast. Has anyone tried it with color and then gone to black and white in post to see if it has any such effect?
 
I tried this once as an experiment. The red filter cut out some of the light so I was left with a darker image than I wanted. My suggestion would be to try it. Maybe you can set your viewfinder to B&W and check out what it looks like with a red filter on.
