something I've never understood about a lot of people on this site, or people in general is that they think they can somehow make a feature film for $10 000 and get it shown theatrically
El Mariachi ?
Blair Witch ?
Clerks ?
Primer ?

It's funny. I'm watching the film ONCE. They shot it for $106,000 (Funded by the Irish Film Board) and I'm sitting here scratching my head wondering where the $100,000 was spent.
Not to neglect the need for food and location fees, etc etc ... the BTS shows and says they worked with a very small crew (4 or 5 people).
The film could have been done no/lo for certain from what I'm seeing.
So can one shoot a film for $10,000 a get it shown theatrically ? Hell yes. This doesn't take into consideration a filmout and prints. But then, that's what a distro is for, isn't it ?

Many films come to mind which could have been done on micro-budgets; Sideways, 28 Days Later, Pieces of April .... the same old mantras ...
Under the right circumstances; friends, small crews, pizza and beer catering, location gifts, etc
Of course a film can be shot for 10K and shown theatrically. Look what some of the DVXusers are creating everyfest. They're shooting these 6 minute shorts for nigh nothing.
Then imagine all of the elements coming together.
