RED Cameras?

Hey, I've been hired to shoot a music video with my DVX100B and I contacted a green screen studio and they just so happen to also be a camera rental place. They brought to my attention "RED Cameras." I'm new to this so I have no idea what those cameras are but he did say "it's basically like shooting on 35mm, without the cost of film". I could rent this for 1200/day.

Can anyone shed some light on RED Cameras and etc for me?

yea, they were said DIT would be an extra 750/day. (Which I dont know what a DIT is lol)
I'm not going to do it since I know nothing of it, but it just caught my attention.

What a crazy world. That's like a guy shooting 8mm calling up about something and being told they could rent a panaflex!

Gotta love the movie business.

A lot of the mega-hype and gratuitous posts have quieted down, because now the cameras are getting out there. I know that at least up to #610 have been shipped, so now there's lots of us out there working with the cameras and learning them, instead of just a bunch of people posting fantasizing posts about it.

Actually, If I recall there were FX shots that utilized RED. The movie is Super35. Too much misinformation being spread. Must spread the truth.

It's not RED.

Wanted will be the first to use the Red One digital camera for selected shots, the bulk of the movie was shot on 35mm film. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie. Production began in April 2007. Wanted has a target release date of June 27, 2008..[17]

Damn that's a bit misleading then. I thought for sure it must have been digital when I saw (age) lines on Jolie's face.
