RED 8K Super 35 sensor teaser

Kind of (F65, Alexa65, DVX200, A7RII aside).
1080p in 444, as it is on F35, would be 6.3 MPX. In 4:2:2, which most human eyes can't discern from 4:4:4, it's 4.2 MPX. A 8.8 MPX 4K camera like the GH4 will resolve ~ 1,500 lines due to a Debayering loss of ~ 20%. DVX 200, with its oversampled 13 MPX 4K sensor, pretty much delivers a "true" 4K of 2160 lines. Alexa65 and F65 deliver a true 4:2:2 4K of 17.6 MPX.

Texture. Tonality. Who gives a poo poo about sharpness? Real detail is smooth and beautiful. Only people who still hate resolution, are the people who've only seen over sharpened HD.

You were well trained by the marketing departments.

Footage from the new sensor. Can't honestly see the difference anymore.

The sample is useless...just meant to show that the sensor is working in my opinion.

With the amount of motion blur, shallow DOF, YouTube Compression and 4K resolution....its pretty difficult to judge the 8K!

As an owner of 5 cine zooms that were designed for an S35 sensor, I'm glad to see an attempt from RED to step back from their "slightly larger" sensor towards compatibility. As far as lenses being able to resolve 8K: the current sexy trend seems to be to lob in older optics in front of these high resolution cameras (feel free to throw around terms like "creamy" and "organic"; I won't be joining you). So I hardly think this is a concern.
