RED 18-85mm Zoom on AF100

That 18-85 is a beast. Unless the camera stays put in a studio, it is going to be tough to lug around. With the epic camera so small now, I bet you will see these big lenses on the used market soon enough.

I have a studio - I could use an 18-85...

I use the 18-85 all the time with the AF. Simply love that lens but it's truly a beast. The 18-50 is pretty darn good too but I've had some breathing with mine. The 18-85 doesn't seem to breath at all. Attached is a old pic of the 18-85 on our AF...we've since added a arri baseplate and dovetail to balance it out a little better.

Joe - thanks for posting the pic - I wanted to see the scale of the lens and the camera together. It would be great if you posted a newer pic of the complete set up. What does the whole thing weigh? Also, what is that tripod head. I have a Miller DS-10. If that is what you have, does the weight of the cam do okay on the head?

Nice pic Joe.

I'd say that rig is SERIOUSLY outside the spec of that tripod.

Pretty damn close if not way over...it's a DS-20 which I think has a max payload of 20lbs. We threw it on those sticks since it was close....but I wouldn't recommend. We have an older Vinten Vision 10 that's a good strong workhorse. Anyway, my best guess is that it's pushing 20 lbs kitted out.

I'll take a quick pic of it on the riser/dovetail when I get back in the studio for you. Sorry to say your DS-10 head won't cut it.
