recovery of fs100 quicktime pn files

I shot some Quicktime PN movie footage using a Firestore fs100, and two of the clips can't be opened. When I click on them I get a message saying that they aren't movie clips. They have a large filesize (400MB), and using %i indicates that they are identified as quicktime movies, but they won't open. Is there any way to force them open in some program and save any of what's there in whole or in part?

Are they still on the FS-100? If so, what happens when you play the files back from the FS-100 through the camera's LCD?

Were these variable frame rates? if so what version firm ware is the FS100 some older versions were able to record 720 but had problems with some of the frame rates.

It might've gotten corrupted like my files did on this shoot. Sadly, according to some people, when it gets corrupted, it loses its virginity and never goes back again. meaning it's a goner, i'd still keep it to hopefully find a solution...

No variable frame rates. Firmware latest version, 4.

It's a shame there's not a program that can extract any usable video from these files, since they seem only to have a header corrupted or something and not much if any of the video. I don't mind if I have to chop away 5% of the bad video to keep the 95% that is good, but losing it all doesn't seem right.

I'm having the same issue: two files won't open, however, when I play them back through the camera, the clips are fine. I know there's information in these clips; do you know how to recover them?

if i'm not mistaken i think that if you hook up the fs100 via the DV port to your computer you may be able to play it back to your NLE as if it were a camera. so maybe, since you can play the clip on your fs, then maybe you can play it back and capture it.

i know that you could do this with as FS4PRO HD, but i haven't tried it the fs100.

EDIT:

yes, i just tried it with my fs100. i shot my footage at 720p30p(pn on fs100) and i did easy setup and set up my project as dvcproHD 720p 30. and i was able to playback my footage that was on my fs100 and capture it.

so there may be luck for you in the end.

Could you get the files back on the fs100? Isn't there a feature on the unit that attempts to fix corrupt files?
