Recovering deleted MP4 files...help needed

I accidentally deleted many of my footage. I was able to recover the full file size of MP4 and BIM files but the SMI, PPN XML were corrupted. Is there a way to fully recover my footage so that it is usable?

Any help is much appreciated.

using xdcam clip browser, import all the mp4 files. It will automatically create the needed smi ppn etc files and folder structure

I'm not sure what you mean by using Clip Browser to import. I am using the Sony Clip Browser 2.0 and it's not able to read the MP4 file. I am unable to play the MP4 in Clip Browser. Are you saying Clip Browser has an import option where I can point to and select the MP4 file alone and it will automatically recreate new SMI, PPN etc. files for me?

yup. create an empty folder somewhere on your computer, and browse to it with clip browser. in the clip box where it usually lists all your clips, right click and hit import. select your mp4 files. If they are noncorrupt xdcam ex mp4 files, it will import them, and create the correct folder structure in that folder you created.

Hope this helps

Thanks so much for this tip. I'll give it a try right away tonight. I hope it works. Thanks again.

Okay, I tried importing and it says failed to import. I checked the file size and it's exactly as its original file. I'm note sure why it's not working.

try it with some other mp4s to make sure you're doing the correct workflow. if it says failed to import on mp4's you know are good then you aren't importing in the right place

keep me updated

Thanks! I'll give that a try tonight.

Okay, I did the test and I am able to import good MP4 files but not those I restored from the deletion. So that means all of my MP4 that cannot be imported using Clip Browser are gone for good and there is no way to recover them, correct?
