I am trying to recover clips from a 64GB SD card that was used in a DVX200 and then reformatted in the DVX200. I am attempting to do this using RescuePro, a utility that comes with SanDisk cards. The card has not been written to after the re-format.
The utility finds the files but doesn't fully recover them. On RescuePro's website I found this note:
"Media that has been formatted can still be recovered as long as data has not been written back to the formatted media. In the case of heavy fragmentation, it may be necessary to send the card for in house recovery to recover the most data. Please contact Datarecovery@LC-Tech.com for more information on this service. NOTE that some devices perform a destructive format or erase, and in those cases, the data is not recoverable."
Does anyone know if the DVX200 performs a "destructive format or erase?"
The RescuePro knows that there used to be a file on the card and goes through a process of seeming to recover it. Yet, I am unable to play the file. Would a "destructive format" obliterate all evidence of previous files, or perhaps just wipe out the content?
I hope I can recover the files, but it doesn't look good at the moment.
