Recover Formatted Card?

I've seen a few posts about people trying to recover footage from cards gone bad. What about a card that was fine, just formatted accidentally and not recorded on since.
I've tried all the usual data recovery suggestions. All came up with an empty 16 gig card.
I also saw somewhere that some devices (HMC150?) when formatting the media card replace the data with "zeros" which they say would make it impossible to retrieve no matter what software you use.
Just wondering does anyone knows this for a fact to be true?

Try ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery). I've had luck recovering pictures off of a formated SD card in the past. Here's a link:

Maybe i didn't use the photorec right but I tried it before and it didnt work. I'll try it again and ZAR as well. Thanks guys!
